Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question about your Beekman canopy? Below you will find answers to the questions bakkie owners ask us most, from how a canopy is fitted to your vehicle and lead times, to colour matching, load capacity, rooftop tents, replacement parts and finding your nearest Beekman fitment centre.

Fitment & Installation

Our installation method depends on the requirements of each vehicle brand. Beekman is an approved accessory for all the major vehicle brands, so our brackets and installation methods are approved by the OEMs. This means fitting a Beekman canopy will not void your vehicle’s warranty.

An approved bracket is drilled into the canopy and a second bracket is fastened to the vehicle (OEM dependent). The two brackets are then bolted together, giving you a secure fit that also helps prevent theft when the canopy is locked.

Lead times range from a single day up to a maximum of 3 to 4 weeks, depending on stock availability and delivery schedules.

Visit our fitment centre page, type in your postal code or city/town and the details of your nearest Beekman fitment centre will pop up.

Colour & Finish

We manufacture our canopies in the applicable OEM approved white colour of most major vehicle brands, and as close as possible for other brands. In most cases the white of your Beekman canopy will match your vehicle’s colour.

Please note that Pearl White is a metallic paint, so a Pearl White vehicle requires the canopy to be sprayed.

Yes. If you want the canopy to match your vehicle, we spray it through an approved installer according to your vehicle’s colour code. It takes 5 to 7 working days to have your canopy colour matched and ready for installation.

As colour matching can be expensive, also take a look at our Midnight Edition (matt black) canopy, which looks great on white or colour coded vehicles. View the canopy range.

Load Capacity & Rooftop Tents

  • Standard Beekman canopy: dynamic carrying weight 100kg, static carrying weight 150kg.
  • Roof reinforced Beekman canopy: dynamic carrying weight 150kg, static carrying weight 250kg.

Yes, but additional roof reinforcing has to be added. You can specify this when placing a new Beekman canopy order so it is built with reinforcing, or have your existing canopy reinforced at selected branches.

Our tip up range already comes with extra roof reinforcing.

Parts, Trade-ins & Products

Contact your nearest Beekman fitment centre for pricing on parts and repairs. Visit the fitment centre page, type in your postal code or city/town and the details of your nearest branch will pop up.

As Beekman is a manufacturer, we do not deal in second hand canopies. There is, however, a large second hand canopy market. Search Google for second hand canopies in your area to find companies you can contact, or sell your canopy directly on platforms like Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree.

No, Beekman does not manufacture or retail insulated or refrigerated products.
