How to care for and clean your bakkie canopy
With bakkie canopies becoming increasingly popular in South Africa, due to their versatility, load capacity, and increased security measures, bakkie owners are looking for tips to properly care for their canopies. We have the perfect range of tips and tricks to clean and care for your canopy to make it last a lifetime. Canopy maintenance may seem like a tall order, but we can ensure you that the small effort it takes to care for your canopy regularly will keep it in tip-top shape for many years to come.
What not to use
Make sure you don’t use heavy-duty chemicals to clean your fibreglass canopy. Chemicals such as ammonia can penetrate the gel coat that covers and protects the canopy and cause permanent damage.
What you can use
Normal vehicle cleaners and car polish are all you need to take proper care of your canopy. For those tougher dirt spots, a high-pressure sprayer can be used to loosen the dirt, before using sunlight liquid to easily wipe up the excess dirt.
Washing your windows regularly will ensure that your window doesn’t get stuck, but also helps clean the water drainage holes, preventing any future leaks.
Maintenance
Our fibreglass canopies are created to ensure easy maintenance, but regular checks will benefit your vehicle long term. Inspect all moving parts on your canopy, including the hinges that could become loose or weakened over time. Lubricating the metal locking systems regularly will ensure that the mechanism functions correctly, preventing any rust or blockages from forming.
Make your canopy last!
Regular maintenance may seem like a daunting task, but it can all be done whilst you clean the rest of your vehicle. This small extra effort will save you money and time in the future. If any problems do occur, we offer a 1-year mechanical warranty, as well as a 2-year warranty on the fibreglass shell. Please contact us if you require any assistance with your canopy.
Replacement parts and windows are readily available from our factory and depots. The serial number can be found on the inside of your canopy, keep this number for insurance purposes.
Contact us for further enquiries or find your nearest fitment centre to have your canopy installed or adjusted. If you still haven’t got a canopy and are looking for the best fit for your lifestyle and vehicle, you can view our range of canopies right on our website.
