New Year Resolutions for your car
New year, New You! This year set yourself some realistic goals for improvement starting with the activities you already do daily, like driving. Here are some of our tips at Beekman Canopies for realistic new year resolutions for you and your car.
Don’t message and drive
This shouldn’t be a resolution, but you shouldn’t be using your phone while driving, unless it’s completely hands and eye contact-free. This should be a driving standard rule for all but if not, start now and save you and everyone around you the chance of being in an accident.
Check your tyres
Tyre knowledge is crucial these days, especially due to the prices of them. Learn what tyre pressure your car needs, then learn how to check how deep the tyre thread must be and check the overall status of your tyres. After a long drive or after every 10 000km it’s recommended that you have your wheels aligned and balanced.
Be smart when driving
Every time you get in a car, you are putting your life and those around you at risk, this isn’t meant to scare you, but meant to make you aware of the dangers you face. Be smart when driving, follow the road rules, and be conscious of others, we can all be safe on the road if we work together.
There is no need for road rage
Road rage is increasing and it’s not just a South African thing, everywhere you look you see people getting way too involved in situations that never needed to happen. People even get in fights for “almost” being in an accident. The best thing you can do is avoid any confrontation, keep your window up and doors locked, and don’t engage in any conversation with other drivers on the road.
Learn how to change a tyre
The best bit of information you can learn as a New Year’s Resolution is how to change a tyre. This isn’t only for the guys, everyone that drives outside of urban areas should know how to change a tyre in an emergency, it might just save your life.
