A seat belt is just as important as an airbag, to understand its importance you must understand the following: “To understand why a seatbelt is important, we need to understand the role it plays in a crash. When you collide with something, three impacts take place. The first impact is with the object that you drive into. The second impact is your body colliding with other people or objects in the car. The last impact is your internal organs colliding with other organs in your body. The job of the seatbelt is to prevent you from being flung from the car, being flung into others in the car and to spread the force of stopping suddenly across the sturdier parts of your body.” – Eugene Herbert.
Child safety
Never allow any kids in a car to travel unless they have their seat belts on. It doesn’t matter how much they hate it or throw a tantrum; kids must learn from a very young age the importance of safety. There is only one correct way to wear a seatbelt so ensure that your kid doesn’t shift or adjust the seat belt into an unsafe position for their comfort.
If your kid is too old for a car seat, then you can buy seatbelt adjusters which help keep kids safe while making the seat belt a little bit more comfortable for them. Again, it is important to teach kids why they should always wear a seat belt and make sure to lead a good example because if you aren’t wearing your seat belt, they will question why they should wear theirs, which makes teaching the child a lot more difficult.
